A quote that takes shape

A configurator prototype that turns defined options into a readable estimate without suggesting that a contract has already been accepted.

Make the choices understandable

The need, before the tool.

Technical choices and their dependencies can be hard to explain in a price list. Users primarily need to understand their choices, what changes and what still requires confirmation.

The work covers one offer family and a set of rules supplied or validated by you. A progressive journey presents options, checks their combination and returns an estimate with its assumptions. The same principle can support a business or preparation for a personal project.

04Discussion

Distinguish three levels of information

01

Option

What the user can select within the defined scope.

02

Assumption

What must remain explicit to understand the indicative amount.

03

Validation

What a person confirms before any contractual proposal.

Calculations are built around examples

01

Simple case

A reference configuration establishes an unambiguous expected result.

02

Boundary case

Minimums, maximums and dependencies are tested separately.

03

Rejected case

An unsupported combination gives an explanation, not a misleading total.

WHAT IS HANDED OVER

Recognisable
deliverables.

  • 01A choice journey with explicit labels
  • 02A documented calculation-rules table
  • 03An estimate summary and its assumptions
  • 04Test cases including impossible combinations
ILLUSTRATIVE SCENARIO — NOT A CLIENT CASE

What could the
journey look like?

  1. 1

A person chooses the format of an item to customise.

  2. 2

Incompatible options are flagged before they continue.

  3. 3

The summary can support a subsequent human enquiry.

Two points to clarify.

Does the displayed amount become an order?

No. The prototype shows an estimate; turning it into an order requires a separate setup and terms.

Can I change my own rules?

Rule maintenance is agreed in the quote; a complete administration interface is not automatically included.
